Vivo has released a compact iPhone Air-style flagship for those who don’t have the budget for the Vivo X300.

After the release of the vivo X200 Pro mini last year, the Chinese company confidently dominated the compact smartphone segment. It was so successful that the new flagships even began selling in Russia, something that hadn’t happened for almost five years. Then came the vivo X300—a good, but still expensive, smartphone. So the Chinese company decided to release an alternative in the form of 
the vivo S50 series , whose members are cheaper and almost identical to their older siblings.

Vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini specifications

The vivo S50 and vivo S50 Pro mini are the direct successors to the vivo S30 series. The Chinese company traditionally skipped the “4” and equipped both smartphones with Snapdragon processors for the first time, while even the more expensive vivo X300 and X300 Pro are powered by MediaTek processors.

The main differences between the smartphones are size and hardware. The vivo S50 is an intermediate model, while the vivo S50 Pro mini is compact. Interestingly, the smaller smartphone has better specs, as it features a more powerful 
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor , a display with LTPO technology, and an integrated wireless charging coil.

Vivo S50 smartphone price

The price of the vivo S50 Pro mini and its smaller, but larger brother differs and is:

• vivo S50 ≈ $420
• vivo S50 Pro mini ≈ $518

These are starting prices for the Chinese market. They don’t include discounts and special offers, so they will become lower over time. Even so, the compact vivo S50 Pro mini is cheaper than the vivo X300 , which is ≈ $616

The base vivo S50 will be a member of the V-series in the global market. It will likely be released as the vivo V70 and will retain all the features of the Chinese version, except for the software.
