5 Xiaomi Features That Beat Every Android Smartphone
After Xiaomi skipped the 16th generation of its flagships to sync with iPhones, many people firmly believed it was a second-hand brand, capable of nothing more than copying others’ designs. However, the Chinese company’s actions significantly influenced the Android device market. Smartphones are what they are today largely thanks to Xiaomi, and
there are at least five features that changed that.

Frameless smartphone screens
Sharp released the first more or less bezel-less smartphone , but it was the Xiaomi Mi MIX that truly achieved mass popularity. First unveiled in 2016, the flagship’s screen occupied 91% of the front panel. While this isn’t cutting-edge today, at the time, Xiaomi achieved a real breakthrough.
The company long remained the king of bezel-less designs. In particular, its affordable POCO M6 Pro had screen bezels no larger than those of flagship iPhones, and this still sets Chinese smartphones apart from Samsung, Google, and other non-Chinese brands.
High-resolution smartphone cameras
A trend that seemed like pure marketing when it first emerged in 2018 has become ubiquitous by 2025. While smartphones used to be equipped with 12 MP cameras, now even Apple iPhones are installing 48 MP sensors , and some brands are even aiming for 200 MP.

This was achieved, in part, due to Xiaomi’s lobbying for high-resolution sensors. The Chinese company began installing them immediately, covering all price segments, from flagship models to budget ones. For example, its Xiaomi Mi Note 10 became the first smartphone with a 108 MP camera .
Smartphones with very fast charging
For a long time, smartphone fast charging was limited to 18W. Given the small battery capacity of older models, this current allowed for high speeds, but the real breakthrough came when devices began supporting 30, 60, and even 100W adapters.
Fast charging has become a feature of almost all Xiaomi smartphones, and the Chinese company doesn’t differentiate between flagships and budget phones. Its Redmi Note 11 Pro+ cost just $187.50-$300 rubles, but it could charge from 0 to 100% in 15 minutes.
Inexpensive but very powerful smartphones
Another trend set by Xiaomi is powerful smartphones at a low price . While high-performance processors were previously reserved for flagships, with the release of the Pocophone F1 in 2018, many other brands decided to enter this category.

This is how iQOO and realme emerged, and POCO even became a separate Xiaomi sub-brand. Thanks to the Chinese, we now have a choice: pay extra for all the flagship features at once or simply
buy a powerful smartphone with performance reserves for many years to come.
A large ecosystem of smart home devices
Xiaomi produces not only smartphones but also a host of other devices. In addition to peripherals like smartwatches and headphones, the Chinese company also produces dozens and hundreds of smart home gadgets, from smart light bulbs to surveillance cameras.
Many of these devices can be controlled via an IR port. The fact that the IR sensor hasn’t disappeared is also thanks to Xiaomi, which has offered, and continues to offer, various ways to control gadgets.
